SUSTAINABILITY

committed to change

Fuelled by our passion for the natural world and our desire to produce rum in kinder ways, our commitment to the environment isn’t just a pledge – it’s a dynamic force happening right at the heart of our brand home! Many of our green initiatives happen on the ground at Casa BACARDÍ, as we work to protect the world around us.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS

COMMUNITY

People are at the heart of our business. From supporting new bartenders to helping upcoming musical talents, our initiatives such as ‘Shake Your Future’ and our Center of Excellence prove our commitment to nurturing our community. During
the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospitality industry
was tremendously impacted. To combat this, we donated $3 million in financial support, provided meals, and partnered with several non-profit organisations to help those in need.

A HAVEN FOR ALL

BIODIVERSITY

At Casa BACARDÍ, we put together a wildlife team of
11 volunteer employees who have helped us create and manage a series of pollinator gardens around the distillery. The gardens welcome monarch butterflies, honey bees, native bees, and seven species of bats!
For us, every creature great and small matters.

THE CHP PROJECT

CLEANER ENERGY

Our Combined Heat and Power (CHP) project at the distillery is helping us to become self-reliant and
ensure a sustainable future for our operations.
Already helping us to cut Casa BACARDÍ’s emissions
by half, our longterm goal is to generate 100% of the energy we use.

GIVING BACK

BEACH CLEAN UPS

We cherish our origins in the Caribbean, and we believe it’s
important that we continue preserving the environment we emerged from. Plastic waste impacts all of us, and by
encouraging our employees to be part of these clean ups
we hope that we can help contribute to positive change.

PROTECTING OUR LEGACY

BAT SHELTERS

More than just our beloved logo, bats play a crucial
role in pollination and pest control, making them essential to our ecosystem and rum production. To help protect them, we’ve created special devices and shelters at Casa BACARDÍ and we’ve even been awarded two WHC Conservation Certifications for this work!

CRAFTING THE FUTURE

UPCYCLING GLASS

In our commitment to sustainability, we recycle all glass bottles in Puerto Rico. Understanding that glass takes thousands of years to decompose, we partner with a company that transforms them into cement blocks. These blocks, made from sand, stones, cement, water, and pulverised glass, are then provided to the community for building houses.

SUSTAINABLE STORIES AROUND THE WORLD

our progress

We’re proud to say that our commitment to sustainability reaches far beyond Puerto Rico.
Here are just some of our wonderful projects that are taking place across the globe to help make a difference.
