Energy is key to everything we do here at BACARDÍ. That’s why we work to use our resources as sustainably as possible, just like our founder did over 160 years ago. Our distillery in Puerto Rico is carving a path towards a greener tomorrow, helping us slice greenhouse gas emissions by half – generating 100% of the energy we use.

THE CHP PROJECT
Something super exciting we’ve been working on behind the scenes is our CHP project. Meaning ‘Combined Heat and Power,’ this initiative helps us to be self-reliant and completely change the way we operate. This change ensures a sustainable and efficient future for our operations.
This year we will slice our greenhouse gas emissions in half thanks to great innovations like our new CHP system, biogas generation, and CO2 capture. As our distillery in Puerto Rico works towards a greener tomorrow, our goal is to generate 100% of the energy we use. Stay tuned as we progress on our journey!

In the wake of the hurricane in Puerto Rico, there was a surge of interest in renewable energy. We want to lead this push towards cleaner energy, which is why we are actively exploring solar panels as a means to power our operations and—importantly—provide electricity to our local community.
