‘The Angel’s Share’ depicts the beauty and craft behind BACARDÍ premium rums

As BACARDÍ rum ages under the warmth of the Caribbean sun, some of the golden liquid vanishes to the heavens – the angel’s share. Michael B. Jordan’s cinematic film, ‘The Angel’s Share’, explores why the angels love BACARDÍ best.

In this first-of-its-kind collaboration with BACARDÍ, we are transported to the tropical paradise of the Caribbean with its vibrant colours and Latin music floating through the air. Together with Emmy-nominated director Paul Hunter, Jordan tells the remarkable story of family, legacy, and the BACARDÍ premium range, bringing the island life and soul into our homes and cups.

BACARDÍ rums age in the heat of the sun, which means more of the angel’s share is taken than with other spirits. In the film, three characters – a Maestro de Ron, a bartender, and a Bacardí family member – tell their versions of why the angels love BACARDÍ more than any other drink. With beautiful shots of aged rum barrels, old family photographs, lively dancing and turquoise waters, it’s no wonder they keep coming back.

Jordan, a self-professed ‘rum guy’, shares the story behind his passion for rum. “Rum has always been a part of my life. My grandmother made her famous rum cakes which were only ever made with BACARDÍ – so I feel a special connection to the brand. It’s been a pleasure to work with my friend and mentor Paul Hunter and the entire team to bring my creative vision to ‘The Angel’s Share.’”

Conceptualized by Jordan and Hunter, the artfully-crafted film uses a Latin Caribbean-inspired story to educate consumers on the process of creating rum. “We first connected with Michael last year when he attended No Commission – our art platform in partnership with The Dean Collection. When it came time to produce ‘The Angel’s Share’ film, we knew he was the perfect person to get behind the camera to tell our story,” said Roberto Ramirez Laverde, Vice President, BACARDÍ for North America. “Watching Michael on set during the shoot was amazing – he has an eye for storytelling and was extremely adept at bringing the story to life.”

‘The Angel’s Share’ celebrates the finer side of rum, highlighting BACARDÍ’s range of premium products, such as BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro, Gran Reserva Diez, Gran Reserva Limitada, and Reserva Ocho. Each of the exceptional liquids in the portfolio provides a new way to enjoy BACARDÍ, introducing a more sophisticated, complex side of rum.

As the sun continues to wash over the aging barrels of BACARDÍ, the angels continue to take their share. Watch the full film to immerse yourself in the process of bottling the Caribbean.
