Every BACARDÍ rum has its own unique process, character, and flavor profile. BACARDÍ Black is a blend of rums that have spent time in heavily charred barrels that give it rich and deep flavors of oak. BACARDI Gold has perfectly balanced notes of caramel, almond, and ripe banana. BACARDÍ Añejo 4, meanwhile, has been aged for at least four years giving it notes of honey, aromatic spices, freshly baked bread, and tropical fruit.
When they were first created, each of these rums was originally known by their Spanish name; BACARDÍ Carta Oro (BACARDÍ Gold Label) and BACARDÍ Carta Negra (BACARDÍ Black Label). Since then, many countries have settled on BACARDÍ Gold and Black.

BACARDÍ Gold is a versatile rum but it mixes particularly well with cola and ginger beer/ale. It also blends beautifully with pineapple, raspberry, apple, and citrus. In cocktails, try it in a Ginger Snap, an Electric Avenue, or a Golden Apple.
The big and bold flavor of BACARDÍ Black is great with tropical fruit like pineapple, passionfruit, and mango, as well as a fiery ginger beer. Some of our favorite BACARDÍ Black cocktails include the Jungle Bird and Tiki classics like the Zombie and Hurricane.
So many things – cola, ginger ale, pineapple juice and it’s particularly lovely with fresh coconut water. You can also use it to make cocktails like the Rum Punch, Canchánchara, and the El Presidente.
Yes, all of the rums used in these expressions are aged before being blended to a specific flavor profile. This allows our master blenders the flexibility to use different rum bases as they seek the signature flavor of BACARDÍ Gold and BACARDÍ Black, and for that reason, they do not carry a specific age statement.
Yes, The Cuba Libre was first made using BACARDÍ Gold. Cuba Libre (free Cuba) was the rallying cry of the independence movement that sought to free the country from centuries of Spanish rule. Created in 1900, this drink is a celebration of that hard-won independence and remains one of the most simple and beloved cocktails in the world.
